Job Overview:
Do you have a passion for social ventures and building and managing new products from the ground up? Audible.com—(an Amazon.com, Inc. subsidiary (NASDAQ:AMZN)—based in Newark, NJ (minutes by train from Manhattan)—the leading provider of spoken entertainment and information on the internet, seeks a seasoned, creative, and business-minded product development professional to be the Product Manager for AudibleKids and Education at Audible.com.

The Product Manager will work directly for the Vice President of AudibleKids & Education, and will be the key player that identifies, evaluates, and executes all kids and education product and program development, working closely with engineering, marketing, business development, audio production, and other functional teams. The role requires a vision and consideration of long-term product quality and customer satisfaction, and calls for an individual with entrepreneurial drive and extraordinary flexibility to manage all aspects of product development, both large and small. You are the owner of the existing products and their optimization, the product roadmap, and will lead new product development. The individual is a gracious partnership manager, can navigate the internal organization with skill and charm, and a 6th sense for generating new revenue streams.

Key Accountabilities:
• Develop Audiblekids.com and Audible.com’s education products and services, including: identifying customer needs, generating and managing market and product requirements documents, prioritizing tasks, project managing, driving product releases, and owning ongoing management of the products.
• Work closely with business development and marketing teams to develop execute on marketing partner promotions and campaigns for products.
• Fiercely prioritize among competing opportunities, balance customer needs with business priorities, articulate rationale behind decisions.
• Understand and analyze financial models, and create basic revenue and cost models for product initiatives.
• Work closely with editorial and digital audio department to manage the development of new audio productions.
• Define, analyze, track and improve key product metrics.
• Monitor competition and evaluate our positioning in the context of the markets we serve.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

• BS/BA or equivalent, MBA is desirable
• 5+ years product management experience, ideally in consumer internet products
• A passion for kids products and education, and an appreciation for practical technology use in education
• Direct experience in education markets a plus, but not required
• General understanding of HTML/XML, capabilities and limitations of scripting languages and databases.
• Proven experience in website/software design and development
• Proven ability to construct business cases and plans, including financial plans and cost / benefit analyses.
• Strong analytical capability and a solid understanding of key financial and business metrics.
• Team player with the ability to work effectively in matrix organizations.
• Ability to build excellent rapport with partners and manage relationships.
• Entrepreneurial spirit
