Job Overview:
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Content Acquisition, the Acquisitions Editor will be responsible for acquiring premium spoken word audio content for distribution by the Audible Service and for managing the on-going relationships with content providers. The focus of the acquisition activities shall be on acquiring primarily audio book content whose demonstrable value is in increasing Audible revenues and profits, attracting new Audible subscribers and retaining subscribers, while maintaining and enhancing the premium quality characteristics of Audible’s overall content asset.

Key Accountabilities:
o Research and identify spoken word audio content that is consistent with company business and editorial objectives
o Negotiate audio book licensing terms with publishers, literary agents and authors
o Identify relevant trends that will impact content acquisition and marketing programs
o Work with Marketing & Merchandising Teams to merchandise content on the website
o Meet quarterly objectives consistent with the company’s objectives.

Skills/Experience Requirements:
o Bachelors Degree in literature, philosophy, history, journalism, media communications, languages or business related field.
o Five plus years experience in publishing, literary agency, television, film or music, negotiating rights agreements and managing relationships with content owners and creators
o Broad understanding of popular culture across all main media types
o Solid business analytical and transactional skills sufficient to understand the essential underlying deal term economics supporting proposed rights agreements with content owners and rights holders
o Independent self-starter attitude with a focus on excellence
Ability to operate in a high-energy, high-intensity and rapidly evolving environment

Audible COO Retires

Mr. Rogers joined Audible in 2005, taking leave from his practice that focuses on helping organizations, particularly female- and minority-owned businesses, deliver positive results by implementing collaborative and data-driven management systems and practices. Before his work as a consultant, Mr. Rogers was a senior executive at PSE&G.
